April Weekly Plan

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017

  • Eukaryotic Cells
  • Cell Structure Activity – fill in as we go!
  • Interactions between levels of organization.
    • External stimuli and gene expression -> specialization of cells.
    • Tissue-building – how does gene expression connect to it?
    • Coordination of Organs – Example? (Stomach and intestines  OR Root, stem, leaf)
    • Coordination of Organ Systems

Guiding Question/Big Idea:  What makes up cells?

Required Readings: Ch. 4.3

Due next day (Wednesday): Chapter 4.3 and Eukaryotic Cells Quiz

Wednesday, April 5th, 2017

  • Community Interactions – Community Data
  • Come up with a hypothetical community (decomposers, producers, primary, secondary, tertiary consumers).
List at least ten organisms who are part of it throughout the food chain and how many of each organism exist. Introduce a new organism or a rise in a particular organism and predict and graph the change in population of other organisms.- What happened as each respective organism’s population changed?
    – Were there any symbiotic relationships between organisms (how might this be a relative term)?

Guiding Question/Big Idea: What all works together in and between organisms? How do organisms influence each other?

Required Readings: 45.6

Due next day (Friday): Quiz 45.6

Friday, April 7th, 2017

  • Quiz (45.5)
  • How do humans affect communities of organisms (and in what ways)?
    niche/habitat
    competition
    interactions
How do humans increase rate of change, what does this normally do to population sizes?
  • What else causes changes to environments?
    (El Nino, meteor, continental drift)
